Public Notice – Membership

As you may well be aware, SKDT is experiencing financial issues and we, the Board, are working with support partners, DTAS and Inspiralba, to identify our options and hold an EGM to allow you, the community, to help us choose the right way forward.

SKDT owns and operates the Town Hall, SKDT Hall and the Robert Black Memorial Helipad on behalf of the local community. These are your community assets and valued services. We are also part of this community and we are motivated to recover, particularly to protect these assets.

We are aiming to hold an EGM week commencing 8th June. This will be for members only.

Anyone who is 16 years and above, who lives in South Kintyre (PA28 Postcode area) as their main residence, is eligible to vote here and supports the SKDT aims and objectives is welcome to become a member.

To give you a chance to check whether or not you are a member or to join now, you can email membership@skdt.org to request an application form or pick one up in the foyer of the Town Hall next time you are in. Membership Form New

For this EGM, we will need to close the membership registrations on Friday 8th May. People can still join as members after this date, but they will not be on the list as a voting member for this EGM.

We are also preparing to recruit for new Directors into the Board. To stand to become a Director at EGM, you must first be a member, therefore anyone who is interested in standing for the Board must become a member by the Friday 8th May

After the Friday 8th May, we will contact everyone on the members list to invite expressions of interest to join the Board. This is open to any Ordinary Member.

We will hold an information evening for those interested in joining the Board with our advisors ahead of the EGM to make sure that everyone who steps forward understands the governance and financial challenges.

In the meantime, please continue to book your events and special occasions in our halls and help us to generate as much income as we can.
