Campbeltown Gateway Project

A vacant lot opposite Park Terrace has been transformed from a waste ground into a marine – themed garden thanks to the hard work of SKDT volunteers.

The project was made possible with funding and support from Stalled Spaces Scotland, Tesco Greenspace, Argyll and Bute Council and the Voluntary Action Fund.

Thanks go to all contractors who worked above and beyond expectations Jamie- AJG Civils, Pavel – Signs of Scotland and Gordon – Argyll Signs. Special mention should go to our suppliers, many of whom donated items or provided special discounted prices. Particular thanks to the Chandlers, Windfarm, Buildbase, Calmac, Glenbarr Nursery and West Coast Plant Hire for their generosity.  Thanks also go to Gus McEachran and Glen Scotia Distillery for donating planters, James Herrod and Ivor Watson who gave us those fabulous boats, ACHA for leasing the land to us and Martin Sim for letting use his yard free of charge.

To celebrate the hard work of everyone involved Tesco have generously donated food and treats for an outdoor picnic which will be held at the park on 19th July from 2-4pm. Everyone is welcome!

Garden Party

As the garden is very new, and still a work in progress, SKDT is on the lookout for more volunteers and groups to get involved to help maintain and developing this and other community projects.

If you are interested in volunteering with SKTD please contact: info@skdt.org. You can find out more information on the website www.skdt.org

NB. None of this would have been possible without 2 very special volunteers who not only gave up lots of their time on the garden but even created the poster and invitations; Thanks to Steven and Tina.
