YACC stands for "Yet Another Community Company".

One of the problems in Kintyre, and probably many other rural areas of Scotland, is that there is a multiplicity of organisations seeking support and finance from a very limited set of sources.

When they were first mooted, I thought that the Development Trusts would be the best vehicles to act as "umbrella" groups under which various community projects could develop. That at least was the premise for my reasoning in joining SKDT. Am I wrong?

I certainly feel that having a forum for community groups to talk to one another would certainly be beneficial. Maybe SKDT could provide this forum?

The members could have a quarterly meeting with a representative from each group updating each other on activities, goals, possible areas of collaberation and sharing of problems. Such a forum could have substantial powers to make things happen and make genuine progress. Sub groups could be formed to push forward projects, i.e. a renewables group, a funding group, a play area commitee, etc, etc.

SKDT could organise this. Perhaps a trial run to see if the community groups like the idea?

Definitely an agenda item for the next SKDT meeting.
